The front-end of the nuclear fuel cycle encompasses several chemical and physical processes used to acquire prepare uranium for use in a reactor. These same can also be weapons or nefarious purposes, necessitating need technical means help detect, investigate, prevent material technology. Over past decade, significant research effort has investigated compounds associated with cycle, including ore concentrates (UOCs), UF4, UF6, UO2F2. efforts have furthered chemistry an aim expand improve field forensics. Focus been given morphology various compounds, trace elemental impurities process samples degradation particularly under environmental conditions, development improved new techniques analysis compounds. Overall, this identified relevant characteristics that discern origin, history, postproduction history sample material. This analytical could brought bear forensics purposes.
